Oh Really! Radar: Feng GUI, user voice and scrnshots

Some of the sites I have run over on my way around the superhighway:

  • Feng-Gui is a really interesting site. The cost of eye-tracking can be very prohibitive to the point that very few developers have access to it. This site allows you to upload an image and then it applies an artificial intelligence service to simulate human vision during the first 5 seconds of exposure to visuals. Great for validating page design.

  • User Voice really is the a ‘Poster Child’ of Web 2.0 thinking. It is the new version of the forum that ‘listens to the user, places them at the center of the conversation and creates dialog’. It is one of those rare Web 2.0 sites whose power can be grasped immediately.

  • scrnshots allows you to share screen shots easily. Its a really quick way (especially used with a OSX +screengrab script) to upload screenshots onto the web. Its slightly voyeuristic looking at other’s submissions but it seems to be able to keep up with my browsing. Perhaps a little outdated when you look at Google Chrome’s bookmarks screen, but still a useful tool. This was featured on one of my favorite sites konigi.
